Winners of Juried Show 2011

Artists of River Town is proud to announce the winners of the Juried Show for 2011.

The winners for the art work portion of the exhibit are:

Fourteen stories were submitted. Winners in the writing portion of the show are:
Pamela Saraga, First Place for “Art Gallery Mystery”
Rex Burress, Honorable Mention for “I Love A Mystery”
Dawn Cozine Honorable Mention for “Uncle Joe”
Alvin Dexter (“The Trunk”) and Betty Dickison (“The Idiosyncratic Journey”) were given special notice for their mysteries.

Sergeant Foss “About Face” Drawing Seminar

Hey budding artists! FACE problems with us. Everyone is welcome. Can’t draw a straight line? Don’t worry. I grade on the curve. PAAAAAAAAY ATTTTTTTTENNNNTTTIONNNNN!!!

A great face portrait seminar by Larry Foss, a professional artist who has drawn thousands of faces since 1985. Lots of practical insights. We will do practice sketches and tackle “drawing problems” together. Centennial Cultural Center on Huntoon Street and Arlin Rhine Memorial Drive in Oroville (near Myers and Montgomery, and the Municipal Auditorium). Thursday, October 20th, 1PM to 4PM. Materials will be supplied. Cost is $20.00 for Artists of River Town members, $25.00 for non-members.

Watercolor Card Workshop with Julee Spohn
Learn to make your own holiday cards and cards for all occasions. Bring your watercolor paint, and brushes, paper towels, glue sticks, collage material, 140lb watercolor paper.  Any paintings you want to cut up and resize for cards. We will also be using Masa paper, yupo paper, and other fun materials.  If you have your own fun papers, bring them along. I will have card stock and envelopes available for a small fee. Friday Nov 4th, 1-5PM. CCC building on Huntoon St. (Arline Rhine Memorial Drive, near Myers and Montgomery, and the Municipal Auditorium). $20.00 for Artists of River Town members, $25.00 for non-members.

Chico Art Center – 2011 Open Studios Tour

The 2011 Open Studios Tour, sponsored by Chico Art Center, will feature 101 Chico, Paradise, and Oroville artists who will open and share studios along with their works and artistic insights.  Admission to the entire event is the $15 price of a beautiful color calendar, which serves as the tour guide and includes color pictures, maps, and detailed artist information. (This is a major fundraiser for the Chico Art Center.)

The exhibition opens with a reception on Saturday evening October 1 at 7 pm.  This gallery show continues on for the entire month of October from 10 am until 4 pm daily.  The actual self guided tour is held two weekends, those of  October 22 and 23 and October 29 and 30 from 10 am to 5 pm each day.

Writing Contest for Clues & Evidence Juried Show

Artists of River Town presents its annual juried art show, Clues & Evidence, themed for Perry Mason Days. Sharpen up your investigative skills and join us for a crime scene investigation sensation. To further the mystery, a writing component had been added to the 2011 show. Visit the Gallery, pick your clues, write a story to solve your mystery.
