At the Gallery in February

Visit the A.R.T. Gallery this February to see our most vibrant show yet.

Paintings by Alvin Dexter present cascades of Hawaiian-like blooms in neon color — and they reveal different features under different light, through black-light activated paint.

Dexter has shown his work at the Paradise Art Center, Butte County Fair, Sun County Fair, Silver Dollar Fair, and the California State Fair, the Paradise Woman’s Health Center and Cypress Acres Convalescent Hospital. He was recognized by the Paradise Post, through interviews and publication of his images, and by FOX 30, as the featured ‘Arts in the Community’ artist.

Also shown are works by Don Becktel, Jean Burg, Tammy Edwards, Lynne Rose Light, Elana Needles, Kirstan Quinn, Lynne Stefanetti, Bob Thomaston, Nelly Robilliard Vargas, Walton Walker, and Nelson Wheeler.

At the Gallery in December

Stop by our gallery and gift shop this holiday season! Send an artist-print card to your loved one this year, or consider giving an original work of art — sure to bring light to any cold living room.

The featured artist for December is Jill Farris. Jill “dabbles in” watercolor, pen and ink, acrylics and collage. “For as long as I can remember I have been intrigued by art and nature. I enjoy seeing the creativity that can bloom from the soul of expression in all art forms.”

In Oroville, she has shown at the State Theater, Raquet Ball Club, Oroville High School, Oroville Mercury-Register, OWID, and Brigadoon Antiques. She is affiliated with two horse groups: the Mounted Assistance Unit through the State Parks and Golden Feather Riders out of Yuba City. Jill has also volunteered at the Oroville Hospital for 14 years.

At the Gallery in November

Artists of River Town Gallery & Gifts is pleased to feature watercolorist Lynne Stefanetti at their November show.

Stefanetti has recently been honored at the Butte County Watercolor Society’s National Watercolor Exhibit displayed at 1078 Gallery in Chico. Her work “Sun Washed”, part of the Patrick Ranch tower project, received one of two Awards of Merit awarded at this exhibit.

Stefanetti’s work titled “Mysterious Women in the Mist” (shown) was selected for the “Clues & Evidence” juried show held at Artists of River Town Gallery in October and juried by Jon Cummins, Gallery Director, Chico Art Center.

Stefanetti works mostly in watercolor and mixed media. She is a member of Artists of River Town, Paradise Art Center and other local groups. Stefanetti often paints with local plein aire groups (painting outdoors to capture the light and mood). In August, Stefanetti and her plein aire partners visited Oroville to render the City’s lovely Victorian homes on paper and canvas. In November, Stefanetti will have on display a variety of her works including some of her plein aire pieces.

Additional artists on display are: Susan Alexander, Don Becktel, Jean Burg, John Casner, Machelle Conn, John Holden, Lynn Rose Light, Galen Pixler, Nancy Sowarby.

The November show runs Oct 29 – Nov 25. Artists’ Reception is Saturday, November 5th, 12 – 4pm. All are invited and light refreshments will be served.

At the Gallery in September

September is our Annual Salmon Show featuring Rex Burress, the artist, writer, and naturalist. His paintings are on display at the Artists of River Town Gallery, 1435 Myers St., Downtown Oroville, through September 30. Rex’s love of nature is demonstrated in his rendering of the natural world.

More than a painter, Rex writes a weekly column about, and takes photographs of, the glory of nature — all with good humor and great expertise. You can check out his column, “River Watcher” in the local newspapers. He is our go-to expert in identifying local (sometimes exotic) flora, fauna, rocks and minerals.

September SalmonRex will be joined by Jean Burg, Don Becktel, Freda Flint, Lynn Rose Light, Lynne Stefanetti, Bob Thomaston, Phyllis Morris, Lauralyn Lambert, Barbara Sekerka, Machelle Conn, each showing work of a “Salmon and Critters” theme.
